George Long is to join Oxford United on a six month loan deal.

1.) 23 Jul 2014 15:13:09
Sam winnall has joined barnsley. Is this another striker we haved missed out on?

2.) Is this definite? Thought Clough said he was going to see who performed better in pre season, and so far I'd say Long has out performed Howard on all basis. Personally rather see Long in goal anyway. Especially if we've got Butler at CB.

3.) A81. Patience. Clough will know who he wants and will not be pushed into a decision. He will get the right one. Has he failed with a signing since he's been at United? (And I'm not counting Paynter)? He will get one when the time is right. In Nigel we trust!

4.) 23 Jul 2014 20:49:03
Well vader clough can't fail on a signing if he doesn't sign a striker. I won't knock clough I didn't knock wilson or wier either i'm a true blade but ogrady has now gone and winnal has now gone. We let miller go and taylor too so two out and 1 in (mcnulty) hopefully he is the answer but its a lot to ask. Do we need another striker well 1 goal in 2 games preseason says we probably do!

5.) A81. I agree to a certain extent, but I feel that NC / the board have this under control.
Personally think they are going to get someone in on loan until Ched is fit. If the loan player isn't a hit they can then send him back, if he is a hit, then we extend his loan. That's just my theory, but i'm not too concerned at the minute, appreciate lack of goals in pre-season, but its not as though he has played a 'set' team.

6.) 24 Jul 2014 13:10:49
Not sure we were ever interested in Winnall - small(ish) & mobile like McNulty (& Diego) - NC appears to like /want a 'target man' - wouldn't be surprised if the Sammon link re-surfaces (lol)

7.) 24 Jul 2014 17:19:02
Leroy lita stopped training with Ipswich, maybe an option can't see clough going there but could do a job

23 Jun 2014 08:36:45
New Celtic boss Ronny Deila is aparrently interested in signing Stefan Scougall.

1.) It's in the Scottish Express. John collins used to be DOF @ Livingston. That's whre the link is from. It will take 3 mill for me. It will definately cost Celtic for me - Bono

2.) Scougs isn't going anywhere. If he does well over the next two seasons then I can see clubs looking at him. But I also think there is a lot lot more to come from him

3.) 23 Jun 2014 19:21:50
celtic after Stefan Scougall

4.) 5 million and he's there's. Then we can bring in the bearded one and a top notch forward Thierry moutinho of albacete. Morgs gave it away after the latest garner and morgan interview been scouting in Spain.

5.) Would rather have scougall than brayford

6.) Celtic also interested in Harry

7.) He mentioned Spain as United went there for a few days during the run-in either just before or after the semi final, not to scout anyone

United and Barnsley are competing to sign Derby County's out-of-favour Mark O'Brien on a season long loan.

1.) Usual 3rd best options. Brayford and coady no chance so it's lesser known loans. Where is the ambition!

2.) Very strong rumours that united are in for coady and brayford after selling harry and will get Paterson and stead from Huddersfield. You heard it here first.

3.) O'Brien is not out of favour has been injured and needs games

4.) Coady and Brayford out so you're complaining about falling back to "lesser known loans"? So tell me how much you knew about Coady and Brayford BEFORE they joined us? Weren't they "lesser known loans" at the time?

22 May 2014 15:44:54
We're interested in signing Walsall skipper Andy Butler who becomes a free agent on 1 July when his contract expires.

1.) Are defence will be unstoppable
RB:tommy roowe
CB:McGuire (hopefully)
And just to let people no brandy and Taylor are set to leave the club if the right offer comes in even clough has said it on the website thoughts?

2.) Isn't Tommy Rowe a winger and not a right back? Also, if we have Flynn, Murphy, Campbell-Ryce, McFadzean and De Girolamo we shouldn't need another winger?

3.) I would give brandy a chance and he could be a really good sub with his pace and skill against a tied defence he would run circles around them but foe Lyle bye bye

4.) Brandy and JCR could be good impact subs, and for right back. Ben Davies if he signs?

5.) I would play freeman at right back, would have thought there would be some news of his signing after Saturday

6.) To answer the comment at the top. Rowe is a mainly LB who can play LM or CM. Very versatile, a leader and a good ball playing player. Would be a great asset

7.) In my opinion I think that we should give both Brandy and Taylor another season to prove themselves, we should also give our youngsters such as McFadzean and diego a chance in the squad as well

8.) So we will have Sheehan, Harris, Rowe and possibly Freeman. four left backs? What a load of BS!

9.) Agree with SuFc4LIFE that we should give them a go, but that's 6 wingers playing for 2 spots!

10.) Freeman's a RB, that's why he would be a better signing

11.) Rowe is a Utility player and can play in various poitions

12.) Freeman is naturally a right back he was just covering for Harris

13.) Mcfadzen is rubbish. I would keep Taylor and brandy. Think they could do well. For me we just need a class forward to get 20 goals a season

United are to bid £1 Million for Coady.

1.) No that's what Liverpool want for him, doesn't mean we will bid that much.

2.) Mmmm where's that info come from?

I can't see us bidding £1m for any player whilst we languish in league 1

3.) Unless a Champ club comes in for him, we could possibly get him for around 6-700k.

4.) Liverpool asking price is £1 million, we are going to bid somewhere near £600,000 to start the process

5.) Report states that thy may want 1 Mill for i. f e bid 00K we'll get to talk to him but the final fee will be negotiated -Bono

6.) It's 600k but an extra 400k if we go up

7.) Be all ad ons etc, small fee to start, extra for appearances, extra for promotion etc etc, let's see if we really want him

8.) Where have you all got this £1 mill figure from?

9.) The £1m info comes from Liverpool

10.) Thats the price tag on him

We're interested in Livingston's Marc McNulty again.

26 Mar 2014 15:49:42
According to Shef Star, Nigel Clough is to go back into the loan market again for some defensive cover before it closes shortly as Harry Maguire now has to serve a two match ban following his tenth yellow card of the season last night. Terry Kennedy, Matt Hill and Bob Harris are all carrying minor injuries at the minute therefore some defensive cover is required.

Nigel Clough is set to offer Mark Howard a new contract. Source: Sheffield Star

1.) I heard a rumour that he was refusing to sign a new contract unless he played a few games first and was given a real shot at being the regular keeper.

2.) To be fair Howard not had much to do last couple of games, but from where I sit in the kop can here him more than George and defence look more comfortable giving him the ball

Malachy Brannigan has been appointed Managing Direct. Brannigan worked with Clough at Derby Country. Brannigan's role inlcludes all transfer negotiations, football administration, finance, HR, IT, press, stadium and training ground operations. Source: Club Website

Diego De Dirolamo is due back around October-November time. I'd like to see him go out on loan to someone like Chesterfield for some first team action once he has recovered.

Early favourites for the job are Nigel Adkins, Gus Poyet and Darren Ferguson, I'd have either of the first two but not Ferguson. Tbh I'd have given Clough at leat one more year. In his first season he got us from the relegation zone to 7th and to the semi finals of the FA cup. This season he almost got us promoted and to the semi finals of the league cup. Yeah our performances weren't consistent this season but we should have sticked with him. MK Dons have stuck by Karl Robinson since May 2010 and it has paid off, we sacked Clough after his first real promotion push which is ridiculous to say the least.

He was a quality little player in the 2013-14 season, in the season just gone, he's been naff!

{Ed001's Note - cheers, just wondered as I have only seen him a few times and he didn't impress me, but it wasn't enough to judge him on.}

They're to bid £3 Million apparently. They've got plenty of money and we're not in need of money. I think we can get more for him than £3 Million. Get every last penny I say!

Billy Sharp, he'd be decent in league one.
