Surely if it's around the end of 2013, then it'll be Winter anyway, so its appropriate he picks the team until then. Makes sense to me as we can't get a real manager.

No more odd signings of players not fit enough to play for their own clubs being pushed onto us as bargains. No more loan players here just to pick up a few pay-days. If we don't allow him to bring anyone in, perhaps we can coach SUFC players to play for SUFC.

New idea! Bring through our own players. Great idea! I'll buy that!

Do you mean before the Winter of 2013 or that Winter will want to pick the team before the season of 2013/2014. Sorry mate just my sad sense of humor.
