Hi ed002, a tad random as I am obvs a MU supporter however a friend of mine is a big blade and was asking about any transfer related news regarding Sheffield Utd so was hoping you could provide a list of where there is interest? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - It would be a lot of effort to drag all of the information from the database for a site which has few visitors. Sorry.}

Wow, didn't know you guys had a Sheffield United site!

Anyway, it's being reported that SU have had an £18.5m bid accepted for Aaron Ramsdale. I think it was in one of the podcasts that ed001 mentioned SU could look to Ramsdale if they couldn't re-sign Dean Henderson.

What's your take on the transfer, ed001? To be honest, I haven't been too impressed with Ramsdale, but then again, even half competent players looked like utter crap for Bournemouth this past season. I do think not being able to bring back Dean Henderson is one of the worst case scenarios for SU in this transfer window, but then again, Wilder's been able to get the best out of so many players that people have written off, so I wouldn't be surprised if Ramsdale turns out to be a good signing for them.

{Ed001's Note - decent keeper in there, he just got no protection from the defence. Not as good as Henderson, but he is probably one of the better options available to the Blades.}

As a speacial treat:

Outbound:

Jake Eastwood (G) loan to Kilmarnock
Kieron Freeman (RB) left as a Free Agent
Ben Heneghan (CB) left as a Free Agent
John Lundstram (CM) Newcastle, Rangers, Brighton and West Ham are interested at the right price.
Mark Duffy (CM/RM) left as a Free Agent at end of loan
Luke Freeman (AM) loan to Nottingham Forest
Ravel Morrison (AM) left as a Free Agent at end of loan
Ricky Holmes (LW/AM) left as a Free Agent
Nathan Thomas (LW) left as a Free Agent
Leon Clarke (S) left as a Free Agent

Potential Inbound:

Wes Foderingham (G) joined from Rangers as cover
Aaron Ramsdale (G) joined from Bournemouth.
Pape Abou Cisse (CB)
Mady Camara (DM) a WP might be tough to obtain for England but Sheffield United and Fiorentina have spoken with Olympiakos. Interest of Roma has now seemingly gone - they have other priorities.
Mo Besic (DM)
John Swift (CM)
Siriki Dembele (F)
Emmanuel Dennis (F/RW) would need to pay well over the odds to be assured of a WP for the Premier League but Bruges has placed a significant €20M price tag on the player that Newcastle, Brighton and Watford see as far too much. The player has also been watched by Lille, Monaco, Sheffield United, Sampdoria and Borussia Dortmund - but it is Atalanta and Sheffield United who are pushing.
Jhon Cordoba (S) cheap option
Rhian Brewster (S) Sheffield United are will to pay Liverpool a decent amount to take Brewster on a permanent deal. The player wants his chance at Liverpool but it is unclear if Klopp will let him have it. A loan might be possible later in the transfer window.}

Good news for Blades fans as Harry Chapman looks certain to return for next season in the Championship. Both clubs and the player are happy with the idea of him returning. Though it is unlikely to be done until after he comes back from duty with England, as they want to wait and see if any other offers come in for him.

I've seen plenty of Chinese business types in and around BDTBL all week.

Before anybody gets carried away by our squad players putting 5 past Notts County, remember that Notts had 8 corners to our 3 in that match, and had as many shots, so things could have been very different - especially if we hadn't get those penalties or the sending off.

That side showed more fighting spirit that the first team have been doing recently. If I were Adkins, I'd play keep the same team in the next league match and see what happens. He's clearly nowhere near getting the team or formation right, and that might help. At least it would shake some under-performing "regulars" up a bit, and show that, with the huge squad we have, we've got real competition for places.

I think we already have decent strikers. Done could be our 20 goal guy. think he got close to that in total last season. Few players need shifting out. midfielders mainly. i'm expecting NA to play with two CM's. we have Baxter, Bash, Curvelier, Reed, Wallace x2, Scougs, Coutts, Dameio and maybe some others. who would you get rid of?

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 02:01:29
To iceybabey . Adkins has been playing dimao at centre back in pre season. Coutts hasn't appered in pre season he could be out . And baxter could be up front next season because when higgy and jose scored in the second pre seasonmmatch against Cheltenham . Adkins said its nice to see to strikers score at the end

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jul 2015 18:07:15
If I was to play baxter it would be up front. I think dimao has been played at right back- He looked quality when he played against rotherham season before last.I reckon coutts will be on his bike. Really really hope wallace stays fit- him and Bash would be very solid!

Martin Woolford in discussions about a deal since his release from Millwall.

Does this mean Murphy might be on his way?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

09 Jul 2015 23:54:44
Can't see him leaving, not after signing a new contract not long ago, plus he's in great form. Give him another season with us and if we don't get promotion then he will leave. My opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Jul 2015 09:19:43
I agree, we don't want to lose our best players, we want to add to this team. A striker and a centre back. The midfield is ok but with a couple of tweeks. Adkins will get them moving forward quicker, that was the main problem last season, too slow just to keep the ball. UTB.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jul 2015 11:52:51
Nigel Adkins has gone on record and said that Murphy is staying unless of course a silly offer comes in then it will be beyond his control. We all know that is how football works.

Sources telling me that Gary hooper is close to joining Sheffield United, yes you heard that right!!

Believable1 Unbelievable3

09 Jul 2015 10:08:23
would be Very good signing but out of our reach I think especially wage wise. However I hope your sources are right as he would be a far better signing than Sharp but to drop 2 divisions i'm not sure!!. Fingers crossed someone will take Higdon off our hands too.

Come on lads, let's not get all "South Barnsley" all of a sudden - Hooper to Blades? I mean. really? You honestly think that's even remotely possible?

Le Fondre is more realistic even though I would expect Championship clubs to be very interested.

One I do NOT want is the return of Henderson! Where did that one come from? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jul 2015 19:00:17
blades49 "leaves scotland"? admittedly geography not one of my strong suits but even I remember heading south & east to get to norwich - great day out in FA Cup (when we were in 3rd div) lost 3-2 (deane & Agana netted I think)
Reckon realistic that Hooper moves to Sheff but for reasons others have described - not to us
Know i'm in a minority but reckon a fit Higdon will do well next season particularly if partnered with Done (but likely be Sharp)

Adkins was asked about the possibility of Billy Sharp returning.
He replied with "I had him at Scunthorpe and then at Southampton just in time to fire us into the Premier League. At the moment he is a Leeds United player"
Read into that what you will.

Is he going to be a 20 goal a year striker because that is what we need (apart from wingers who can beat the first defender when they cross the ball and two good centre backs and maybe a decent midfield playmaker). We were about 20 points off automatic promotion last season and at the moment we are likely to be further back unless we strengthen.

Sharp could score 20+ in first division but his wage demands will be too much for blades.

Andy Williams of Swindon (22 goals last season) was set to sign for is just before Clough was sacked. Deal now off.
So just when Clough was about to get the "20 goal striker" everyone's been harping on about getting they decide to let him go.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

29 May 2015 11:10:28
Williams scored 22 for an attacking, forward-thinking team, with a striking partner and advanced midfielders, not a 1 upfront crab-football side who often went entire games with no attempt on goal. Get the manager right, and let him bring his own 20-goal striker in, which could yet be Williams.

Agree7 Disagree3

29 May 2015 13:27:49
that is the reason why derby sacked him, at least shelf utd saw it before it was too late next season. Nigel Clough is a very nice guy but not a patch on his fathers managerial skills. Its ok playing nice passing football but if its not going forward it is a boring waste of time and might as well turn to long ball at least you see plenty of attempts at goal.

Clough has just been sacked. Source: bbc football site. Who next? Warburton?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

25 May 2015 23:10:33
Early favourites for the job are Nigel Adkins, Gus Poyet and Darren Ferguson, I'd have either of the first two but not Ferguson. Tbh I'd have given Clough at leat one more year. In his first season he got us from the relegation zone to 7th and to the semi finals of the FA cup. This season he almost got us promoted and to the semi finals of the league cup. Yeah our performances weren't consistent this season but we should have sticked with him. MK Dons have stuck by Karl Robinson since May 2010 and it has paid off, we sacked Clough after his first real promotion push which is ridiculous to say the least.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 May 2015 09:50:37
I agree. Clough should have been given at least up to xmas and if he wasn't at least challenging for automatic then get rid of him. His tactics at home have been his downfall and he would not change for anyone. He must have been spoken to by McCabe or whoever about his style of play but if he has just ignored their comments its obvious that if he did not get us up this season he would have to go. I personally would prefer Warburton but it looks like he is going to fulham. Want a manager that plays the right players in their right positions and plays two strikers up front, tall ones too. Fast attacking football. MK Dons did it. let's hope whoever we get does that. that's all the fans ask for, attacking football and plenty of goals. Clough was a striker so why did he play negatively.
